Another Interview

Maybe you thought I was finished with interviews since I finally got a job. Nonetheless, I still want to get back into teaching. The local community college in the area called last week to set up an interview with me today, and it was my most intense interview yet. I've never sat at a table with eight people drilling me one question after another rating my responses on a numerical scale. It's slightly unnerving. Granted, though, I have never been interviewed for a full-time job either.

I think the interview went well. I spent the first 30 minutes on a writing sample, the second 20 minutes on the question drill- How would I handle a student who flirts with me?, How would I prepare students who aren't prepared for college? etc. The final 10 minutes I spent teaching the eight professors who were in the classroom. I had to do a teaching demonstration which I've never done before.

Overall, I think it went well. I was mostly open and honest with them, and they laughed at my jokes which is usually a good sign? I didn't tell them I would like to continue taking classes at the seminary if it works into my schedule just because it didn't seem like the time to mention it. I would like to take at least two classes- Systematic Theology and then another class like World Religions or Biblical Hermaneutics. I think that it could work into my schedule, but I'm not going to worry about that right now.

If I get the job, that's great. If I don't get it, then I just know that that's not what God would have me do right now. I did the best that I could on the interview, but I realize that they had been doing interviews for two days straight, and I do not know where I rank in those interviews. So, again, we'll watch and wait.
