Brief thoughts

Does the fact that we long for stability hint that somewhere out there, permanence and stability does in fact exist? C.S. Lewis always said something along the lines of "you would not desire what does not exist." Let's analyze that poorly written summation of Lewis. People desire money because they see its power and comfort. People desire power and comfort because it gives a materialistic (yet false) impression of happiness.
We long for peace because somewhere we know that peace can exist. All of our longings and desires point to some innate understanding that the world we live in is not how it is supposed to be. Pain and suffering were never in God's original plan, but it does not mean that they don't have their place and purpose. Somewhere, we know that true love exists. Somewhere, there is perfection, for if there were not, would the word or concept even exist? Somewhere, we know that there is a God that never changes. And we have this hope that one day we will see the reality of these ideals in their true form. As long as there is hope, there is something more.

As March comes to an end, and as I realize that I should not have prayed for rest on Thursday because I have been laid up all weekend with an aching back, I realize that God is good and God is just, and ...I am not Him. When we say that life isn't fair, it's only because we can't see the big picture. As I reevaluate my faith, I realize that there is a God who transcends my understanding of perfection, goodness, and justice, and one day I will see fully, though now I only see in part.

Hey, my friend! I'm enjoying reading your blog posts from 2 years ago. It's almost 1 in the morning and I can't make myself go to bed b/c what you share here is what I've needed to hear! Kelli, Amy, and I have been talking a lot lately about only seeing part and then we shall know fully, as we are fully known. Such an amazing concept to me! Thanks for sharing your heart, Karla.
