My sister came to visit me this past weekend! We had so much fun just hanging out and seeing the city. We drove around the French Quarter for about 30 minutes before we finally found a parking spot, and then we walked and looked at things and took some pictures. We covered the different praline shops and got free samples of the Pralines. My vote is for the Praline connection over Sally's though the Praline connection's pralines were fresh out of the pot.
Later on Saturday, we picked up our cousin Mark who was in town doing some broadcasting for his baseball team. I took Mark and Katie down to Magazine street which is by far probably the most unappreciated part of New Orleans. They got to meet my friend who was playing at an art opening, but I'm afraid the art gallery wasn't really Mark and Katie's thing. They kept making fun of the exhibits, and I thought we should leave before one of the artists heard them. Then I took them to an upscale cafe on Magazine, but they thought the food was too fancy for them, so finally I took them to the Clearview Mall where they got Dippin Dots icecream out of a vending machine. I think that was their favorite part of the whole evening. So much for culture. But I love my family anyway.

I have the same experience when my family visits. It's nice to develop a flair for quality but sometimes others don't appreciate it.
