The Seminary had a lecture weekend focusing on the topic of "The Demise of Atheism." They had several well-known speakers here on campus: both atheists and Christians. Friday night was an interesting dialogue between Alistair MacGrath and Daniel Dennett, a Christian and an atheist. This morning, there were a few paper presentations given also by other atheists and Christians. It was a very interesting time, and though I couldn't quite wrap my mind around everything they were saying, the concept was definitely intriguing. It was a great experience to have both Christians and Atheists in the same room attempting to rationally discuss issues that important to both. A lot of people from the city came to hear the debates and lectures, so it was really exciting to have so many atheists on a seminary campus.
This afternoon, my friend Blanca and I attended a wedding for one of my friends from Graduate School. It was a very beautiful wedding, and congratulations to Ashley on the wedding. However, it was my first Catholic wedding, and it was definitely a new experience for me. There were a lot of times where I didn't know what to do. Blanca and I both were a little concerned when the priest said something and everyone in the congregation started kissing the people around them. We really didn't know what to do then. But it was a great learning experience for me, and I'm really glad I got to go. Of course, Catholics definitely know how to have a party. I learned that from my friend the Med. student's reception.
