There are two really good businesses to be in right now. One is the construction materials business. Lowe's and Home Depot are making a killing right now. You can pick up all your construction needs at those stores plus you can hire a couple of illegals to come and assist you in your work as they all congregate in those parking lots waiting for people to hire them.
The other great business to be in right now is the sign business. Everyday, there are new signs up and they almost always say the same thing: Now Open. Of course, if I were a sign maker, I would probably get tired of those words, but really that's the only reason to make a sign right now. Since I've been in New Orleans, I've tried to keep track of the number of businesses that have opened recenty within a 1 mile radius of where I live. There's the Winn Dixie, two Walgreens, the 2 McDonalds, two Burger Kings, a Popeyes, a Subway, Dollar General, several gas stations, Sav-A-Lot (which is false advertising in my opinion), CC's coffee shop, and a few other nicer restaurants.
Despite this increase of new businesses, our area still looks like a war zone. There is still so much more that is not opened than what is opened. Everyday, I pass by shells of stores that used to exist that just haven't been touched. The Blockbuster, Payless, Piccadilly, and I could go on and on.
But the Now Open sign is a constant reminder that people are continually coming back, and the city is growing again. It is a city of change and it will take a long time before we ever get to a point of consistency.

I cannot imagine that. It sounds so weird.
So, I keep hearing jokes on tv about picking up illegals in front of Home Depot - is it true??
Karla,
good to hear from you. So you are in New Orleans...AWESOME. I miss the food there so bad.
concerning the ? you placed on my blog...Our church prays a lot...pushes prayer. But I am not sure we do anything specific (beyond prayer) in the area of spiritual warfare.
