An Application A Day...

School is going well. I like all of my classes, and I've begun reading. I'm still filling out applications for possible job opportunities. I got a big nibble today with a job on the West Bank working for NAMB which would be pretty cool if that worked out. I won't go into details now, but I will if I get the job.

In the meantime, I have so much freetime on my hands that I've been trying to just do something. Yesterday, I hung out with Francine and Nick in the the cafe for about an hour and a half just talking. I guess none of us had anything else to do. It was strange for me because I'm usually running off somewhere to do something that's on my calendar. But yesterday, I had plenty of time to just sit and talk. And you know what. It's fun.

Last night we had our ESL class, and I have to say that I really like it a lot. I've been having a regular group of about 9 students who have been coming faithfully every week. They make me laugh. I teach the beginner class and when I say beginner, I mean beginner. Yesterday, our vocabulary words were things like 'tall, fat, ugly.' They are all extremely hard workers because they really want to learn English. I'm so glad that I can speak Spanish, though, because I'm able to understand their questions and their jokes about the English language. Yesterday we were going around the table finding out who was married and who was single. One of the younger workers said he was single (he's probably 21), and the next lady also said she was single(maybe 50). She said to the worker that he better not get any ideas about asking her out because she would have to break his heart. You had to be there.
Fortunately, no one is hitting on me because they are serious about learning English.
